Holiday Baking Goals...

Hello Bloggers,

It's only one of the girls from Cupcake Dreams blogging tonight, but I've been thinking about baking all day today and I wanted to share my excitement with everyone!  I know it's been forever since we did our last blog post and I apologise on behalf of both us girls!  Unfortunately, uni has gotten to the stage where the last few weeks have been extremely crazy and stressful!  But the good news is that we will be on our break soon, so there will be plenty of time for baking and I'm sure that there will be plenty of stories to share with you all.

Today we went shopping and naturally found ourselves in a kitchenware shop.  Just looking around at all the different equipment such as the icing bags, cookie cutters and cookbooks got us excited about baking again!  Did you know they make Macaroon Pans to bake your macaroons in perfect circles that are all exactly the same size?  How perfect for us perfectionists - just another little tool we can use to attempt making perfectly proportioned macaroons again!  Hopefully these macaroons will make it into the oven this time...

Like I mentioned earlier, I'm eager to get back into baking (even though I'm still super busy with exam study... I really shouldn't even be on here right now... I'm procrastinating)!
So I thought I would share a little snap shot of my baking goals for the holidays...

To make these yummy Chocolate French Macaroons.
Anything with chocolate as the main ingredient has got to taste amazing!

To make a few gluten-free desserts such as these Gluten-Free Chocolate Cupcakes.
One of my goals for our future cake shop is to cater to people with gluten intolerances.  Luckily, gluten-free desserts taste delicious as well!

To successfully make brownies!
I know they sound super easy, but for some reason, every time I cook brownies they are a fail...

Stay tuned - I promise we will have some new baking stories to share with you real soon!  xx

Hello Bloggers!

Hi Bloggers! We have started this account after a late night of gossiping, watching movies and talking about our futures and our dream of owning our own cake shop together. So we decided to do something about it and share our journey with the internet world!

We are both 20 year old uni students, following a different path - but we have shared the same dream and passion since high school. We both take pride in our work, but our perfectionism and stress can get the better of us at times. So we are guessing there is going to be a lot of flops in the kitchen, as well as food wastages and lots of blood (hopefully not in the cakes), sweat and tears! We hope to master the tricks of the trade and learn all the secrets to successfully baking mouth watering masterpieces!

We both hosted and organised our first event last weekend - a baby shower for our dear friend! We mentioned stress and perfectionism before... well it definitely got the better of us last weekend! There were plenty of tears and food wasteages.  We attempted macaroons which were a fail... a coconut cream layered cake which burnt on the outside but didn't cook in the middle... chocolate that kept burning... piping bags that weren't cooperating... cupcakes that were sinking... icing and fondant that wasn't behaving... and butterflies that were melting in the heat! And to top it all off, we also had to deal with other non-food related dramas, plus car troubles - at this point we were tearing our hair out!!!

After all that, we some how managed to present beautiful pink cupcakes, ginger nut biscuits, quiches and a chocolate cake that looked as though it was decorated by a kindergartener (but it still tasted amazing).  So the baby shower was a success and everyone enjoyed themselves and we still have a bit of hair left! After all the stress, dramas and just wishing for the weekend to be over... we still had fun and it motivated us to get off our bums and stop procrastinating (another one of our down falls) and to make our dream a reality!!!

After our weekend we have learnt that we still have a lot to learn - but we have the determination and passion to keep going.  Walt Disney once said "If you dream it, you can do it".

So keep posted for the next chapter where we're sure the drama will continue...
